183183 is a solo based on morphology, particularly size.
Movement research is based on the restriction of the body in space. The inspiration for this piece comes from my own experience of feeling too tall and my own personal journey to accepting that this disadvantage is actually an asset. Understanding how to enhance rather than degrade one's body in the face of all the 'grown-up' stereotypes we've had to deal with since our earliest childhood. By dint of wondering why you're always in the back of the photo, why you're in the last row, why you don't play basketball? We fight. You fight to impose your choice, my choice. 183cm and I dance my way... |
